I looked at test.conf and some docs and found nothing about initiating a scan with a third party command. That is the goal here to use a third party command, not a USB, parallel, nor network interface
There are two such examples of command line scanner utilities that could benefit from something like this http://bastel.dyndns.info/~public/s400w/ and https://github.com/kno10/python-scan-eSCL you load the command line with the options according to the commands needs based on what is selected in the GUI.
