I haven't ever gotten any reliable report that the Canon LiDE 50 or 80 do work. Some people told me that these scanners are supported but after looking at their log files I found out that their scanners had the USB ids of Canon Lide 20 or 30. And surprisingly the owners of these scanners noticed that they own a Lide 20 or 30 when I asked them to look again at the name plate. I've been also poited to that forum but nobody told me: "yes, my Canon Lide 50 or 80 works with sane with the ... backend". So I think it's a hoax. Bye, Henning
