Help!!! I recently dusted off my old Nikon LS-1000 SCSI negative/slide scanner and tried to scan in some negatives with xscan.
After the scan, I get this message: "Backend sends more image data than it defined in parameters" and the scan is faulty - it has stripes parallel to the short dimension of the negative. The same thing happens with scanimage so I suspect the backend. I think the SCSI interface and driver are OK because another scanner on the same bus (an Astra-610S) works fine. Or perhaps the dear old LS-1000 has finally bit the dust!! I tried cycling the power but the problem persists. Versions are: media-gfx/sane-backends-1.0.15 media-gfx/xsane-0.97 linux-2.6.13-gentoo-r5 There's nothing interesting in /var/log/syslog. I also ran with SANE_DEBUG_COOLSCAN=128 but nothing terribly interesting apart from this at the end: [coolscan] 000: 28 00 00 00 00 00 00 fd 20 00 [coolscan] sane_read: read 32768 bytes [coolscan] sane_read: read 32032 bytes [coolscan] 5/0/5: End-Of-Data Detected [coolscan] sanei_scsi_cmd: returning 0x00000009 [coolscan] sanei_scsi_cmd: returning 64800 bytes: [coolscan] [coolscan] 000: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff [coolscan] 016: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff d5 a7 5b 3f 46 54 46 41 41 [coolscan] 032: 3e 39 3d 40 3d 3d 4b 5f 6d 86 97 a0 a3 9b 96 96 [coolscan] 048: a0 98 95 9b 9a 8c 8a 98 9d 92 8d 8d 96 8e 9d 9a [coolscan] 064: 91 8e 97 9b 99 9b 9c 9e 98 97 9b a2 90 90 9a c2 [coolscan] 080: a4 99 95 8c 97 99 98 95 95 9a 93 8f 9a 98 90 91 [coolscan] reader_process: unable to get image data from scanner!
