tAtparyaH:
Like the shadows of the forenoon and the afternoon, the friendship with the
wicked and noble differs. In the forenoon, the shadow will be long and will
get short as the day grows and gets hotter too. On the other hand, the shadow
of the afternoons will grow as the day grows and will be cooler also.
raghu Adds:
what a beautiful analogy by the one and only bhartR^ihari. The way he comapres
the friendship with the wicked to the shadows of the fore noon that diminish
as the day progresses and will get hot too. Such is the friendship that brings
misery as it grows.
Au contraire, friendship with the noble people grows as the shadows of the
afternoon and also will be cool that indicates happiness too.
