The txt of this hymn is like this:
asato maa sad gamaya | tamso maa jyotir gamaya | mR^ityor maa amR^itam gamaya - a+sat=
non, real - a+ sataH = from unreal; sat= real, truth, unreal death - to such an
reality; gamaya= take me, lead me forth from unreal mortal death to real existence;
tamas - tamaH= darkness, deathly oblivion, void - from it; jyotiH = to light,
enlightenment; gamaya = lead me forth; mR^ityoH maa= from deathlike nothingness;
a+mR^itam= non, decaying enlightenment - to it; gamaya = lead me forth.

In the extention of it the txt will have these lines : sa yadaa ha a sato maa sad
gamaya iti | mR^ityur vaa a sat | sat amR^itam | mR^ityor maa a mR^itam gamaya | a
mR^taitam maa kuru iti eva vai tat aaha | - give me a deathless state, that which is
the ambrosial existence, both here and elesewhere.

This is called pavamaana hymn, a hymn concerning real existence of a being, chnated
before chanting Sama Veda hymns, then he becomes loka jit - a conqueror or mortality

This being so, the trans u have given is more lexical, than philosophical. Reg.
pronunciation, phonetics - the above code can be pronounced as it is and it can be
seen in Sanskrit or RomanTranscript fonts, in whichever u are comfortable, in the
program of Itranslator 99 - a free stuff at here > http://www.omkarananda-ashram.org/
