I am having a problem with "kAntArAnnAtirichyate" in the second line. Either the
Panchatantram version I have has a mistake, or I am not parsing it correctly to get
its proper meaning. Apte (under gR^ihiNI) has the same verse (illustrating the use of
"gR^ihiNI" and that word is shown as "kA.ntArAdatirichyate." That was easier for me.
na = not; gR^iha.m = house; gR^ihamiti = like home; Ahur = is called; gR^ihiNI = lady
of the house, wife; gR^iha.m = home; uchyate = is said; gR^iha.m = house; tu = as
regards; gR^ihiNIhIna.m = without the wife; kAntArAt = than, compared to
wilderness/waste; atirichyate = surpasses, worse
It is said that a house is not a home. It is the homemaker (wife) who is the home,
i.e., it is the wife who makes a house a home; As regards a wifeless house, it is
worse than some wilderness or wasteland.

are asking you to be a bride (for shiva); munayaH = sages; prApta.m = attained;
gR^ihamedhiphala.m = fullfilment as a head of a household; mayA = by me
Come, dear child, you are chosen to be alms for the soul of the universe (shiva). The
sages themselves are here to ask you to be His bride. My life as a head of a household
has found fulfillment.
