                    Rama got back
  the
 mother

of Kusha and Lava.

I did not get kushala (happiness) and vasutaa

(prosperity)

The poet is Jagnnaatha PaNDita who was

a very poor who finally landed in the court

of a Moghul King in Delhi.

The King proposed that he marry a beutiful

Muslim Girl called Lavangii.

Then Jagannatha PaNDita said.

 lavangii kurangiidrigangiikarotu.

(let the deer-eyed lavangi accept

the proposal)

I also remember one line of one of his other

compositions -

sadyomunDita-matta-huuNa-chibuka-praspardhi naara~Ngakam.

The orange competing (in appearance) with the

just shaven face of a drunk Hoona(foreigner).

There are some other interesting verses composed

by him.

P.K.Ramakrishnan
