dorbhiH is the tR^itiiyaa bahuvacanam of "doH" meaning, hand.
dorbhiH, hence, means "by/with hands"
(dorbhiryuktaa chaturbhiH = one who is ("associated") with four hands).
The tR^itiiyaa vibhakti is as:
doShNa (eka.) dorbhyaam (dwi.) dorbhiH (bahu.)

Is doH not more often translated in commentaries with baahu? I came across it
recently in Kalidasa and Sitarama did not translate it with hasta, to my
recollection.

I later found this in Apte's dictionary where it is given as dos (m.n.) meaning The
forearm, arm.
Apte further says that DoSan is optionally substituted for this word after acc.
dual.
Therefore here the translation as arm is used and not hand. Probably hasta meaning
hand denotes only the palm (fron the wrist upwards) whereas arm denotes the portion
from the elbow upto the finger end.

Interesting. I guess that words for body parts like hands, though they might
on the surface seem to have an obvious and universal meaning, are probably more
or less differently defined from culture to culture, but the difference may
often be too subtle for us to notice easily.
