Thanks for your cross reference.

I wanted to use an English word for Garuda. Is there one?

Riding a deer, a horse, a lion, an eagle,
A swan, a mad elephant, and a big bull

This half of the verse obviously refers to the joining force of all the devas and
their shaktis on the MahAnavami day for the conquering of MahiShAsura. The reference
is to dEvi mahAtmyaM (8.14)

"yasya devasya tadrUpaM yathA bhUShaNavAhanaM |
tadvadeva hi tat shaktiH asurAn yoddhuM Ayayau ||"

I would translate eagle into Garuda (since it refers to vaiShNavI). Swan refers to
sarasvati, bull refers to mAheshvarI, lion to durgA, elephant to aindrI (shakti of
Indra) and deer and horse to other minor deities.

Apparently this was composed as part of nateshastuti by Pandit Ramalinga
Dikshitar of Chidambaram.

I am quoting as I remember:

lokAnyAhUya sarvAn DhamarukaninadaiH ghorasaMsAramagnAM
datvA$bhItim dayAluH praNatabhayaharam kunchitam vAmapAdaM|
uddhR^tyedaM vimukterayanamitikarAd darshayan pratyayArthaM
bibhrat vahniM sabhAyAM kalayati naTanam yashshivo nassapAyAt||

This relates to the esoteric interpretation of Nataraja's taaNdavaM at
Chidambaram. The meaning can be easily inferred as you might already know.
