The short 'o' is there in Sanskrit as in -  h� prabho etc. Sanskrit has no elongated 
'O' as in pancha draviDa languages. The sound 'eh' - in which context you mean.
 
Have you and Sai noticed this web site, Govt Digi library. For Telugu reading frineds, 
there is Aranya Kanda of Valmiki Ramayaana with Govindaraja, Maheshvara Tiirtha, 
Tilaka, Raamaanuja, plus tani shloki-s at:

Better you all download these pages [if you can] and write to disc to have a record of 
Sanskrit of Valmiki and its later time meanings as given by Gobindaraja et al.
