Thanks a lot for the links. Pray, tell me do I have to download any
special fonts to view these emails and text in the links given by you?

With warm regards,

The object of this mailing list is twofold:
- discuss things that have the sanskrit language issues in the loop -
  literature, grammar, science, ...
- converse in sanskrit language, anything you please (subject to
  decency) yat-kimapi.
Making sanskrit a mainstream conversational language is our ultimate
aim. This list is also for those who want to start understanding
sanskrit works in their source, using translations only as a prop and
not an end in itself.

As can be seen from the discussions, this mailing list is not for those
who want to learn sanskrit from the zero level, but for those who have
studied a little sanskrit in the past (at least cursorily, e.g., during
childhood), but want to get more into it. Since it is an informal
discussion group, there will be no systematic course format,
except occasional grammar fireworks. To really master the language
you've to learn to think in it, which comes only when you speak
(orally as well as through emails).

The web is your greatest teacher. Use it.
To learn sanskrit on your own, the following link is an excellent
starting point:
    http://sanskrit.gde.to/learning_tools/learning_tools.html
There are tutorials for people at many stages of learning:

There are scientifically designed exercises by Samskrta bhAratI pandits
for people just like you, all online.
Go through "abhyAsa pustakaM", entire book scanned and kept with colorful
pictures just for you.

Please visit that site. You'll know answers to those questions yourself.
You're better off directing such questions to the site's admins instead
of to this mailing list.
