Here is a question about the 10 "gaNaas" of the dhaatavaH (roots of the verb).
Each gaNaH (group) has a model if you will with the "name" of which
the group is known. For example, the first group is called "bvaadi"
i.e. bhuu+adi =>bvaadi.

Similarly, the II group is known as "juhotyaadi". A list follows:
1 - bhuu + adi
2- ad + adi
3 - juhoti + adi
4 - div + adi
5 - su + adi
6 - tud + adi
7 - rudh + adi
8 - tan + adi
9 - kry + adi
10 - chur + adi

My question is about group 3 and group 7 where, the names of the
groups are NOT according to the name of the "dhaatuuH" unlike the
other groups. This is because the first dhaatuuH in group 3 is "huu"
whereas "juhoti" is the laT-lakaaraH-pratham-puruuShaH-ekavachanam.
Similarly, "rudh" is not the dhaatuH but it is "rudhir".
Does anyone know why this discrepancy?

Thanks,
MP
