devi dasha shloki - or fancifully titled as devi ashva dhaaTi - is published in
Telugu by Dr. Mellachervu Bhaanuprasaadac Rao, a Sanskrit professor, during 98
or so. In the bygone era, Puraanampanda Shriiraamamurthy gaaru [Ushashri's
father or forefather?] translated it into Telugu taatparyam with shlokas. On
comapring shlokas of these two I itransed it for word-for-word tranl.

ashva dhaaTi is vrittam with 22 letters, four foots, with ta, bha, ya, ja, sa,
ra, na, ga gaNa-s - etc. etc. The translators use this name of vrittam as it
title, but dasha shloki is its name. There is a saying that these 10 shloka-s
became 10 x 10 saundarya lahari at a later time. And if it is titled as - devi
ashva dhaaTi - then it becomes - the speed of that goddess with the rhythm of
hooves, but not the galloping rhythm of the diction employed in the verses. So,
it is devi dasha shloki only. Whether Kalidas said it or Shankara said, let us
firstly see what it contains - thru Sai.

Reg. Lalita - its vyutpatti is - lokaan ati lalate taarayati - iti lalita...
lokaan= people, offspring - say all birthed beings; ati lalate= muchly, who
gently cuddles - as with a nursing mother who does so for her child; taarayati
= who makes that offspring to cross over - this ocean like world; i.e., she who
gently cuddles all the birthed beings as if they are her nurslings [- as long
as they are in mortal world,] and who accords salvation, as well, at end.

mR^iNaala= fibril inside lotus stalk - having such softish arms - to handle her
children; [other things as Raman said.] There are scores of web sites claiming
that they have detailed Lalita 1000 names. Let the the members search them
firstly.
