Namaste,

Some times i have noticed that gm sounds at the end of some words in vedas and
sukthas.

e.g. Narayanagm, In rudram also g sounds.(yagNena kalpataag Srotram yagNena
kalpataam)

What does this mean?

Dhanyavadah,
Bharajwajasagotrah Manda Krishna Srikanth Sarman.

Even in the daily sandhyaavandanam one has to recite facing north the following
-

Ritagum Satyam Param Brahma Purusham Krishna-pingalam // Oorddhwaretam
Viroopaksham Viswaroopaya Vai Namah // Viswaroopaaya Vai Namo Nama Om Nama Iti
//

I do not know if this is covered by any rules of grammer. Probably for ease in
chanting.

Namaskar
There are some similarities and differences between Laukik
Grammer and Vedik Grammer. In this case in Laukik grammer where there is
anuswar,in Vedik grammer it is prounced as either gm or gvam, gvan^ etc before
hard sibilants ha, three sa (palatal, cerebral and dental ) and ref (rakar.) .
Kindly refer to a book " VED PRAVESH " ,published by Sanskrit Karyalaya,
Aurobindo Ashram, Pondecheri-605002. This book gives some details regarding
similarities and differnces in Laukik and Vedik grammer plus undrestanding some
basics in reading Vedik books.
