Vyasa invoked Ganapati to take down his dictation of Mahabharata which is the
largest single composition containing about one lakh shlokas. Ganapati put a
condition that he would keep on writing and if he has to stop for some time
waiting for a shloka to be dictated, he would quit. Vyasa put a counter
condition that Ganapati should write only after understanding the meaning of
every shloka.

Whenever Ganapati's speed of writing overtook Vyasa's speed of dictation, Vyasa
would dictate a knotty shloka (called granthi). Ganapati would take some time
to understand its meaning. By then Vyasa would have
uttered many more shlokas. Again when Ganapati catches up with Vyasa, Vyasa
would again dictate a knotty shloka. Like this, there are 8800 such shlokas.

I would request members to post whatever they know of such shlokas.

I am giving two such from what I have heard.

Sorry I have not put this in Sanskrit.
