As part of a mainframe modernization project, an Industry leading financial company seeks a Database Architect to develop and implement a database strategy for migrating mainframe DB2 databases to Microsoft SQL Server platform. Responsibilities include: 1) Analyze needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems to develop technical, structural, and organizational specifications. 2) Provide expertise and guidance in the design and development of a data warehouse, stored procedures and query design to help ensure optimal performance, scalability, reliability and recovery of application databases. 3) Act as a resource to business units, IT staff and management in regards to strategic direction for database technologies and best practices. 4) Act as a subject matter expert regarding ETL, data migration and provide assistance to data warehouse development. 5) Translate business functions into conceptual, logical and physical data models. 6) Interface with stakeholders to understand data needs. Work collaboratively with developers to implement solutions. 7) Significant ingenuity and flexibility is expected. Requirements include: 1) Minimum of 10 years of experience developing and maintaining relational databases. 2) Minimum of 10 years experience with Microsoft SQL Server. 3) Strong knowledge of database design, query cost and performance measurement, use of stored procedures and performance tuning, ETL(Informatica), data transfer and data migration methods. 4)Strong working knowledge of DB2. 5) Project management, facilitation and leadership skills. 6) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Database Management Systems or related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
