Title: Senior Data Architect (2 positions) Location: Remote Duration: Through 12/31/2011 with likely 6 months+ duration when 2012 budget is approved ***Must have heavy Sybase experience with preferred background in Sybase Power Designer* *Job Description:* · Responsible for aligning data solutions to business requirements by planning and managing data architecture work. · Coaches others on data architecture matters. · Ensures that industry-accepted data architecture practices and techniques are integrated with those of allied disciplines and that coordinated roll-out and adoption strategies are in place. · Ensures that data architecture principles, standards, guidelines and concepts are integrated with those of allied disciplines and that coordinated roll-out and adoption strategies are in place. · Ensures the successful implementation of programs that help the enterprise achieve competitive advantage with data. · Plans and manages enterprise-level modeling efforts. · Stays apprised of best practices for physical design for at least two major DBMS platforms on the technology tool stack and ensure that this knowledge is reflected in Data Architecture work practice documentation. · Ensures that cross-team collaborations are in place to support an integrated approach to sharing/integration across allied technical disciplines. · Ensures that a governance process is in place to support effective modeling tool usage. · Develops a formal portfolio of data architecture services. · Clearly states what service will be performed, provided, roles and responsibilities for data architecture and for the customer for each level of service offered (e.g., Full Service, Facilitate, Consultant, Mentor). · Ensures Data Architecture work process is part of the overall process of developing concepts, defining formal projects, planning and initiation of projects. *Deliverables: * *As a part of this engagement Cognizant personnel will also be performing the following:* · Work with Data Management Solution/Information Architect to provide project data architectural consultation/oversight. · Participation in design meetings, interpreting business needs into data model requirements. · Requirement gathering and documentation from data modeling/architecture perspective. · Create all data models needed based on on-going analysis. · Conduct peer review of data model deliverables. *In-Scope Deliverables: * · Work with DM SA to support on-going data analysis and documentation as input for the data model. · Create Logical-Physical Database in conjunction with approved business requirements. · Work with DBA to generate 1st cut DDL (Data Definition Language). · Support all data model change requests, updating all model documentation, including metadata as needed. *Required Skills:* · Work with DM SA to support on-going data analysis and documentation as input for the data model using PowerDesigner. · Create Logical Physical Database in conjunction with approved business requirements. · Work with DBA to generate 1st cut DDL (Data Definition Language). · Support all data model change requests, updating all model documentation, including metadata as needed. · Analytical, communication and planning skills required. *Educational Qualifications/Experience:* · Requires a BA/BS Degree in related discipline.
