GC AND US Citizen Job Description:-The successful candidate will enjoy interacting closely with research scientists as well as with developers in the design, development and implementation of software solutions. This role will establish new databases in a variety of database technologies, monitor performance and optimize existing databases, perform database backups and restores, and ensure that all supported databases are maintained in accordance with best practice and security guidelines. Job Responsibilities:The successful candidate for this position is expected to perform the following job responsibilities:Respond to support requests including database access, database updates, and database performance optimization. Install and configure database software.Create, schedule and test database backup, restore, monitoring, maintenance and reports.Create new instances, databases and schemas.Create and maintain database auditing, alerting and management reporting. Skills / Qualifications:The successful candidate will have a good combination of the following skills:Experience in building and maintaining complex database systems in a variety of technologies. These include ORACLE, SQL Server, MySQL and Postgres in Windows and Unix/Linux physical and virtual environments.Experience in database and query performance tuning, advanced SQL and procedural language concepts, configuration and change management, security design and capacity planning.Familiarity in working with research systems and scientists to understand their needs and questions.Demonstrated enthusiasm for solving complex problems.Experience in Chemical, Biotech or Agriculture IT fields a plus.Experience with ETL, database replication, and RAD tools (Oracle APEX, SQL Reporting Services, etc.) a plus.Excellent communication skills.
