Check it out!http://www.acon.org/lca/ 2004 Community Leadership Program PURPOSE: The Community Leadership Program is an annual program since 2001 to enhance participant capabilities for work dedicated to improving the Chicago Asian Pacific community. Participants will explore: * Chicago's different Asian Pacific ethnic communities and current issues * Group leadership skills in decision making, process, and conflict management * Networking with fellow program participants, organizers, and community leaders TIMEFRAME: * Six monthly Saturday sessions: January 17, February 21, March 20, April 17, May 15, and June 12 * Wednesday June 16 from 6-8pm for group project presentations * Saturday sessions will start promptly at 9 am and conclude at 2 pm after a lunch discussion PARTICIPANT SELECTION CRITERIA: * Committed and motivated to serve the Chicago area Asian Pacific community * Able and willing to commit the time and energy to complete the program * Represent as much as possible a cross-section of community/professional backgrounds, ethnicity and gender within a group of 18-21 selected participants. * Be of 18 years of age or more. EXPECTATIONS FROM PARTICIPANTS: * Prepare for each session by completing reading assignments. * Work on a group project during and in between sessions. * Be prompt and attendance is required for the duration of all sessions. TUITION: * Applicants who are selected and enroll are required to submit a non-refundable fee of $100.00 * Tuition covers the costs of breakfast, snacks, lunch, and program materials. * A fee payment plan may be arranged or partial financial assistance is available.
