Associate Director
Third Wave Foundation

A six-year-old organization with a budget of approximately $500,000, the
Third Wave Foundation is looking for an Associate Director. We seek someone
with excellent writing skills, fundraising experience, program work, and
strong attention to detail to help Third Wave grow and develop.

Third Wave is the only activist foundation working nationally to support
young women between the ages of 15 and 30. We contribute 100% of our
resources to young feminists and the projects that serve them nationwide.
Third Wave makes grants in the areas of grassroots organizing and advocacy,
reproductive health and justice, and scholarships; conducts public education
campaigns, and facilitates networking between young women led groups around
the country.

An ideal candidate will be committed to Third Wave’s core vision of a world
where young women and their allies have the skills and opportunity to lead
social change. Likewise s/he will share our vision of empowering young women
and their allies, placing young women and their allies at the center of
decision making rather than the periphery, and creating an institution that
is committed to building a cross-class and cross-race activist foundation.

Position Summary:
The Associate Director will support the overall management and
administration of the Foundation, lead key development and fundraising
activities, assist with program and grantmaking areas, and manage various
aspects of day to day operations. The Associate Director will report to the
Director, and will work closely with the Executive Committee of the board of
directors.

50% Development Work
· Coordinate major donor program. Coordinate prospecting, cultivating,
renewing and upgrading major gifts.
· Create major donor recognition and education events with support from
staff and board.
· Provide detailed donor information to Director and Board members to
perform major donor solicitations.
· Execute 2-3 events from in conjunction with full staff, including
planning, event conception, event sponsors when appropriate, drafting
invitations, doing outreach, and coordinating follow-up.
· Coordinate general operating support grant seeking from foundations,
including research, initial contact, grant writing, and reporting.

25% Programmatic Work
· Overseeing the grantmaking process for one grantmaking area. This
includes coordination and distribution of applications to the committee
members, contacting grantees, disbursement of funds and grant agreements,
and follow up with recipients.

25% Operations Work
· Manage day to day internal operations, including office administration.

Skills:

The ideal candidate must be organized, possess excellent interpersonal and
written skills, and be highly attentive to detail. S/He will have the
capacity to meet and advance Third Wave’s strategic organizational
priorities and fundraising priorities. S/He will have the ability to work
with individuals from a broad array of class, ethnic, sexual orientation,
gender identity, and other backgrounds.

Qualifications:
· Experience in a range of development activities, including major gifts,
special events, and grant writing. Candidates must have fundraising
experience to be considered for this position.
· Planning, management and administration skills
· Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written skills
· Experience with program management, planning, or evaluation
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and establish priorities and procedures

Salary Range: $38,000 - $42,000 with health care coverage, three weeks
vacation, and retirement benefits. The position allows for significant
growth opportunities, in a fun and creative atmosphere. This position
reports primarily to the Director of the organization and to the
three-person Executive Committee of the Board.
