FILM SCREENING & PUBLIC DISCUSSION The Weather Underground Saturday, March 13, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Chicago Historical Society Clark Street at North Avenue, Chicago $8
In These Times sponsors this special screening of the 2004 Oscar nominated documentary The Weather Underground, a film about radical activists from the 1960s and 1970s. This intense documentary from directors Bill Siegel and Sam Green focuses on the political activist group the Weathermen, who represented a small faction of protesters that believed in order to avoid being ignored by the U.S. government, they would need to take radical action. The documentary chronicles and critiques the consequences of this violence that resulted in putting them on the FBI's most wanted list and forcing many of them to go underground. The panel discussion immediately following the screening includes former Weatherman member Bill Ayers and filmmaker Bill Siegel. It will be moderated by Jeff Epton, In These Times publisher.
