Hi Derek,
first - perhaps it's a solution to convert the RPM package to Debian
with alien!?
Did you try it?
By the way - on
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Software-Building-HOWTO-4.html is good
article for generally using tarballs instead of prepackaged binaries:
download, unpack, ./configure, make, make install (as root), ready!
Thirdly - In the special thing of sapdb it's still better to use
./SDBINST to install the tarball, isn't it?

Regards
Karsten

Subject: Debian Packages Revisted

A while back I asked about Debian packages and someone mentioned that
there was a person working on them. Does anyone know who this someone
is so that I can contact them directly? I have a pressing need to get
Debian packages done, but do not care to duplicate work.
