the person working on it i mentioned before is Bernd Eckenfels as you
can check on http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/being_packaged
i offered him help before and same offer goes for you. i guess you
should at least contact him before starting your own, but i would like
to see a package soon as well.

one problem for a official package is going to be the build environment
vmake. is it completely open source as well? on which architechtures
does it build? etc.
