That works fine, even on my old, slow laptop. For demo purposes you 
don't have a huge, 10 Gigabyte database, don't you ?!?!

Go at first with Linux, this save you lot's of headache. Get it working 
on Linux (which is documented), then you can try to get it working on 
<some>BSD. But then you already have additional knowlegde.

When buying a laptop for Linux it is advisable to check one of the web 
pages that deal with Linux compatibility of laptops. That's a sad field 
...   and I'd assume that <some>BSD compatibility is even worse ...

At that time PostgreSQL did need to be shut down periodically for the 
vacuum process. Current PostgreSQL seems to be able to do this while 
the database is running.

And while PostgreSQL has an embedded-C/SQL precompiler, this piece of 
software is not that good. The one from SAP DB has it's problems, too, 
but is better. I longe for our programmers to switch to Qt3 :-)

SAP DB has a mightier SQL syntax, e.g. subselects, alter table.
