Anyway, I use the Python connectivity and I feel until now quite comfortable with it. I do not use an autoincrement column, sequences do the job for me... For the connectivity and the statement-handling itself I took the zsapdb-adapter from the ZOPE framework. (I just ripped out the zope-stuff and it worked ;-) I also use SAPDB with ZOPE (just beginning to get my first experiences) Hope this gives you a better feeling.
