Juergen,

We've been using ObjectStore, an OODB which integrates tightly into C++,
for most
of my development over the past seven years, and we're looking for
alternatives,
open source prefered. I am not familiar with the SAP universe, but from
what I have
read in Mr. Muntz's slides, liveCache could be a functional alternative.
Even if
you don't plan on making liveCache available in the near future, it would
nevertheless
be extremely helpful if you could release a whitepaper or some other
documents,
maybe even the API documentation for liveCache itself, to the SAP-DB
community.

But we still feel that the OO-extentions lack of a comfortable and
platform independent
development environment [..]

This is state of the art in the OODB world and fully accepted by their
users.

[..] and that the degree of security (in term of preventing crashes of the
db server
due to errors in the C++ applications) must be improved. We are still
working on
these topics and are planning to deliver a release with major inprovements
in that
direction within the 7.x development cycle.

This is where the community kick in: You get free testers,
