Hello to all
I hope I can get help on this way.
I have migrated an produktive SAP System from Microsoft/SQL to Linux Suse Enterprise and sapdb .
The first to backups where running fine, there was no problem (new tapes)
But now we work with used SDLT tapes which where used with WINNT.
The Backup is writing 192 KB to tape and says tape is full please change the tape.
It's the same problem for complete and incremental backup.
I have copied more than 5 GB with tar to the tape, no problem .
But I can't find a way to work with sapdb to get a backup.
I have checked the status with mt, i have changed the head to 64 Kb (it was a tip from SAP)
also i have erased the tape with mt after changing the head from tape,
there is no way to write from sapdb to the tapes.
As a last way i have started a complete backup to the DLT drive (20/40GB) which will be normally
used for the logfiles from sapdb.
And the backup was running, but it tooks 20 hours to get a backup from an produktiv SAP System.
It's not serious to work with this DLT, we have not 24 hours time to restore a produktiv System.
The tapes from the DLT are also used tapes from WINNT before, but the backup was successful.
I have also checked with backup to a pipe and write with dd to the SDLT tape, the same problem , sapdb stops
after 192 KB .
The system is running with the sap certified linux kernel 2.4.18 from may 2002.
can anybody please give me a command to initialize the tape.
So linux and sapdb means ok it's a brandnew tape, we can write on it.
kind regards
