Environment:
Solaris 8
32-bit Server 7.0.29
Hey All...
Trying to get a database installed on Solaris for the first time. [Was
Successfull with Linux]. Upon installing an instance using the Windows
Client. [Database Wizard] I get a message that the database server is not
running. Knldiag shows:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date Time TID Typ MsgID Label Message-Text
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2002-12-11 16:33:42 --- Starting GMT 2002-12-12
00:33:42 7.3.0 Build 029-000-087-891
2002-12-11 16:33:43 7 ERR 11309 IPC create_fifo:
'/usr/spool/sql/fifo/SALBASGN' chown error, Not owner
2002-12-11 16:33:43 7 ERR 11267 COMMUNIC ABEND: cannot create request fifo
Now I checked the archives and got lots of useful information, so I went to
check permissions. Here's what I have:
# ls -la /usr/spool/sql/fifo
total 4
drwxrwxr-x 2 sapdb sapdb 512 Dec 11 16:33 .
drwxrwxr-x 10 sapdb sapdb 512 Dec 9 13:23 ..
# ls -la /usr/spool/sql/ipc
total 8
drwxrwxr-x 4 sapdb sapdb 512 Dec 11 16:33 .
drwxrwxr-x 10 sapdb sapdb 512 Dec 9 13:23 ..
drwxrwxrwx 2 root sapdb 512 Dec 11 16:33 db:SALBASGN
drwxrwxrwx 2 root sapdb 512 Dec 11 16:33 us:SALBASGN
Just in case the default solaris config for this system was mounting
/usr/spool in NFS like mentioned on the lists, I disabled the NFS daemon
altogether. Still no go.
I'm a newbie to Solaris, in general, so there could be many other issues
with other apps that I'm missing. (ie automount, etc)... but I'm not sure
where to look at this point.
Thanks in advance!
-Mike
