Hi,
the clue seems to be '1072' (WIN32 Error Code):

1072 The specified service has been marked for deletion.  
ERROR_SERVICE_MARKED_FOR_DELETE

If you remove the x_server service without rebooting, the Win2000sp2 does not allow to 
'overinstall'
x_server.
