Christoph, I appreciate your attempt to help. However... Please read more carefully, we were not talking about a such a problem with 7.4.
I posted two message threads: 1. Lack of good documentation and poor support on 7.3 to 7.4 upgrade problems. 2. I personally just did a 7.3.0.29 to 7.3.0.32 upgrade and had to reboot (which I did not do when doing my past 7.3.0.26 [not sure on that version] to 7.3.0.29 a couple months ago). As far as I am concerned, these two are unrelated. It is sheer coincidence that Andrea found a documentation error related to 7.4 upgrade xserver removal (which is not supposed to be required when doing a 7.3 minor upgrade). Hallo Andrea, Hallo Stephen could you please send us your installation log files according the update to SAP DB 7.4 to find out why the x_server could not be removed during the installation. You will find these log files in the <indep_data>\wrk directory. As far as I know you will get this error, when the serv.exe file is deleted before the service is removed. So you have first to stop the x_server, then you have to remove the x_server and the you may delete or update the x_server. SDBINST and SDBUPD should remove the service before the file is updated. A reboot should not be necessary. regards Christoph Bautz, SAP Labs Berlin _______________________________________________ sapdb.general mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://listserv.sap.com/mailman/listinfo/sapdb.general
