Hello Guido, >I want to backup a SAPDB database with Veritas Backup >Exec 8.6. How could this be realized ?
As said in my previous answer: You can try to use the Backint for Oracle implementation of Veritas. Detailed information about how to set up SAP DB for using a backup tool via the Backint for Oracle interface can be found in http://www.sapdb.org/7.4/pdf/extsich_eng.pdf . >Furthermore I search an document about >configuring the SAPDB database. In this >case about to save the Log - sessions in >files to switch the Autolog - function >to on. If you implement the solution pointed out above, you can A) backup the log into Veritas with the help of DBMGUI or dbmcli ("backup_start BACK...") B) you can use the AutoLog feature to create numbered log backups and can then use the dbmcli commands archive_stage/archive_stage_repeat for archiving those files into Veritas. Both solution need the involvement of the OS's scheduler though. Further information about dbmcli's backup and archive stage commands can be found in http://www.sapdb.org/7.4/pdf/dbmcli_74eng.pdf . Information about creating log backups with DBMGUI can be found in http://www.sapdb.org/7.4/pdf/dbmgui_74eng.pdf .
