I must disagree with your statement about "...it is very uncommon to 'constantly increase' a database size.". I think you have been in the SAP world far too long.

I would not name it INITIAL size, I would name it size. this size can (to some extend) increased by a user. But it will NOT increase automatically. And it is very uncommon to 'constantly increase' a database size. Usually the database is defined, disks are assigned and so on one assumes to be enough for the next time (counted in years, not in days or months).
