It is actually remarkably tricky to get right, at least without making far too many database calls. Make sure to update as spec'd in the backwards incompatible page and you should have sorting of both option groups and options done properly, with the "M::B" style keys working exactly the same no matter what ordering you use. If you run into any problems, please try running the product tests and see if they pass.
