I'm definitely interested in hearing about alternatives to trml2pdf. I have heard of Pisa but haven't looked at it in detail to see how much better/worse it is.
It does have several dependencies so it will propagate the perception that Satchmo has too many dependencies. It's not necessarily a show stopper but is an issue. Also, the license is GPL so we can't include it directly in Satchmo either. Having it as an add-on is ok though. I guess my recommendation would be too look at it in more detail and see if it does meet your needs. The truth is, we might want to develop more of a pluggable architecture that allows people to use trml2pdf or Pisa or whatever other backend they may want to use.
