I'm definitely interested in hearing about alternatives to trml2pdf. I have
heard of Pisa but haven't looked at it in detail to see how much
better/worse it is.

It does have several dependencies so it will propagate the perception that
Satchmo has too many dependencies. It's not necessarily a show stopper but
is an issue.

Also, the license is GPL so we can't include it directly in Satchmo either.
Having it as an add-on is ok though.

I guess my recommendation would be too look at it in more detail and see if
it does meet your needs. The truth is, we might want to develop more of a
pluggable architecture that allows people to use trml2pdf or Pisa or
whatever other backend they may want to use. Since the pdf generation
capability is not embedded in all parts of Satchmo, it should be pretty easy
to make this a configurable option.
