"I tend to recommend a 256MB VPS solution as the minimum to run

Webfaction is a bit of a hybrid and I've heard mixed results on how
well
Satchmo runs on it. I will say that if you must go shared, then
webfaction
probably a good choice and their 200MB plan should be more than
sufficient."

I'm putting together a website for some friends who run a Community
Supported Agriculture (CSA) operation in western Wisconsin, and was
looking at Satchmo to see if it might be a good base.

So far I like it, but that's >$30 per month (at least), whereas I have
a Pinax app of roughly the same size running fine on an 80MB
Webfaction account (<$10 per month).

A CSA would have fewer than 50 products and fewer than 50 visitors.
And they are not big money-makers, just getting by.

So, any good ways to slim down Satchmo? Or should I start rolling my
own ecommerce app? Or how about incorporating some lighter-weight
components of Satchmo in a Pinax-style reusable app project?

(Just looking for suggestions, I'll figure something out.)
