Summary: release version naming Project: Savane Submitted by: yeupou Submitted on: sam 03.09.2005 à 10:15 Should Start On: sam 03.09.2005 à 00:00 Should be Finished on: dim 03.12.2006 à 00:00 Category: Packaging Priority: 1 - Later Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Planned Release: _______________________________________________________ Details: I intend to change the name of the version are named. Currently we increase a minor revision at each revision, minor being x in 1.0.x. Since we do not make so many release, the 1.0. is not likely to change anytime soon. I think we should use 1.x. In others words, the release would be 1.1, 1.2, 1.3. There are occasion where a release is made only to fix one bug in a release made very recently. It would not make sense to increase the minor number. I suggest that, in this case, we add to the release a +1, 1.1 with a bugfix would be 1.1+1. We could use a, b, c (1.1a) but it would be more confusing. And using - is not really a good idea as distros frequently use that to distinguish the packaging revision. I let this item open as reminder and as place of discussion. So the next release is going to be named 1.1, or 1.0.9+1 if it's a bugfix release. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://gna.org/task/?func=detailitem&item_id=2171> _______________________________________________ Message posté via/par Gna! http://gna.org/ _______________________________________________ Savane-dev mailing list Savane-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/savane-dev
