Follow-up Comment #8, task #2171 (project savane): Mathieu,
I begin to understand your intentions behind the version numbering scheme. You're right that after long years of development and releasing, a new version 1.0.9 (1.0.8+1 in your words) would imply to be a "full" release, and not just a small bugfix. But if you want to make clear that 1.0.8 is deprecated, and 1.0.8+1 is just a tiny fix to the release, why do why need to use the plus sign? In my opinion, it would be better to use a lowercase letter instead, as you mentioned in the original post to this task: > We could use a, b, c (1.1a) but it would be more confusing. I don't see why this is more confusing. I would rather see a 1.0.8a instead of a 1.0.8+1. To me, this looks more like a release with some add-on value. See, what's irritating me so much is simply the use of "+". Could we settle on using lowercase letters? _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://gna.org/task/?func=detailitem&item_id=2171> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ _______________________________________________ Savane-dev mailing list Savane-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/savane-dev
