2010-10-12 in GNU Savannah task #10653: "Submission of PyCTOH". Hello. A comment on the license notices issue: The Copyright & licensing information should be clear for every copyrightable file. However we have no way for sure to determine whether a court would consider a specific file Copyrightable or not. For text files (In a natural or formal language) we consider files above 10 lines long to be Copyrightable. This is a rule of thumb. For files of other types assume it is copyrightable unless the opposite is very and enough obvious. Sometimes technical limitations don't allow this information to be included inside the file itself (This is usually the case of binary files) or it is especially undesirable to do so (Say, for lots of files just above 10 lines or automatically-generated ones). When this happens the Copyright & licensing information for those files should be included in a README file in the same (sub)directory or in the top-level README. Note it should be clear who's the Copyright holder and what's the license of every file considered in the README. A proper example of such README file can be find at http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/emacs.git/plain/etc/images/README. For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html and http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html Hope this is useful.
