Follow-up Comment #10, task #12728 (project administration):

The only COPYING file I see is the GPL text, nothing about individual files
and where they came from.     (Which is conventional/good anyway.)

At any rate, my inclination would be to say that if you haven't otherwise
modified a file, then it is clearest to leave it as it was upstream.  If you
have modified it, then I would suggest adding "modified for Whonix, see
COPYING for copying conditions" or some such.  After all, virtually all
licenses specify noting modified versions as such :).
