regarding the maximum number of files open on my NetBSD box:

$sysctl kern.maxfiles
kern.maxfiles = 3000
}}}

$pstat -f | head -n 1
529/3000 open files
}}}
while liquidsoap is just started
i've increased it from the default (less than 1200) to 3000 to no go
