 Well, in fact I did change only the code for start_socket, leaving
 untouched the code starting a telnet session (start_telnet). If you think
 that tcpnodelay might be bad for telnet sessions too, you can remove it,
 or make it optional.. Again I leave it to you. But since it's not a bug
 we're not in a hurry this time.
