Comment(by romeodeepmind):

 i heve installed liquidsoap and set the env options via

 {{{
 start)
     echo -n "Starting channels:"
     if [ ! -e $rundir ]; then
         mkdir -m 777 $rundir
     fi
     chmod 777 $rundir
     cd $confdir
     export OCAMLRUNPARAM="b"
     for liq in *.liq ; do
       if test $liq != '*.liq' ; then
         echo -n " $liq "
         start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --pidfile
 $rundir/${liq%.liq}.pid \
           --chuid $user:$group --exec $liquidsoap -- -d $confdir/$liq
       fi
     done
     echo "."
     ;;
 }}}

 i guess it will be more correct as export passes environment to the
 childs.

 but i cannot se backtrace in logs. are they written on thread creation or
 only on exceptions?

 concerning stderr redirection: in one of my logs i see external encoder
 startup:

 {{{
 2009/04/10 19:12:49 [stderr:3]
 *************************************************************
 2009/04/10 19:12:49 [stderr:3] * Enhanced aacPlus Encoder
 2009/04/10 19:12:49 [stderr:3] * Build Oct 29 2008, 23:04:59
 2009/04/10 19:12:49 [stderr:3] * Matteo Croce <[email protected]>
 2009/04/10 19:12:49 [stderr:3]
 *************************************************************
 }}}

 does this mean stderr is redirected to log?
