Your analysis is correct: nice catch. I thought we had already fixed this
kind of problem. In fact, the noise() source requires more than the
obvious fix, but it should be rewritten in the style of sine(): currently,
when duration>0, it can produce tracks of more than duration because its
granularity is the frame, not the sample. I'll take care of that this week
unless somebody wants to give it a shot before.
By the way, I like your idea for maintenance. In the meantime, you can use
a non-zero duration.
