I reviewed the code and cannot find anything wrong. A few things could be
tightened, but nothing that could create a deadlock. Are you sure it's a
deadlock? It might be normal that a function is waiting on a lock during
the initialization phase... Unfortunately I still cannot reproduce #283
(even with log level 5, even now that I have a functioning speech
synthesis) so I don't see an easy way to help.
