Well, the stereo parameter is misleading. The corresponding code which uses it
is:

if not stereo then 1 else Fmt.channels () in
Indeed, it should be renamed as "mono", since it is what it means. Probably
after the 0.9.0 release, however.
As for now, by default the channel number of the output when not forcing to
mono (stereo=false..) will be the global setting:
set("frame.channels",4)
However, I believe that this forces any input to have 4 channels. I never
tested it myself.
Jack input should open the same number of channels than the global setting.
Hence, in a pure jack setting, I belive 4 channels is possible. Channels
swaping may also be done through jack for now..
