I don't like forums and I find them most of the time quite
inconvenient and inefficient.

I don't like to register on a site just for posting one question. Then
I have to go back and check later, if someone has answered (or
subscribe to a read-only rss feed).

If the server or the data disapears it's gone. With a mailing list I
have the mails in my mail account. I can also easily copy and mark
important mails, I can search accross mailing lists and can even
search it through Spotlight (OS X desktop search).

Forums have a few advantages, but I don't think it's better than a
mailing list in general, especially not for tech topics.

If the mail archive and search is the problem, then we should fix that
instead of switching to a new communication platform.
