I don't like forums and I find them most of the time quite inconvenient and inefficient.
I don't like to register on a site just for posting one question. Then I have to go back and check later, if someone has answered (or subscribe to a read-only rss feed). If the server or the data disapears it's gone. With a mailing list I have the mails in my mail account. I can also easily copy and mark important mails, I can search accross mailing lists and can even search it through Spotlight (OS X desktop search). Forums have a few advantages, but I don't think it's better than a mailing list in general, especially not for tech topics. If the mail archive and search is the problem, then we should fix that instead of switching to a new communication platform. 2009/7/27 Subflow.net <[email protected]>: > Hello, > > I wish to add my 2 cents about this post :"Increasing traffic: help us > help". > A forum might be useful and more readable, more searchable, more and more > and more !!! > > With the actual system it's almost impossible to search > inside mail/post, the SF search engine is crappy. > You have to browse all subject (linear reading) > to expect to find an information because I don't want to ask again and > again.(Le complexe du newbie) > A forum is also a good idea to share script or info between users > ( +How to+ section ) > Ok , it's not first time I suggest you the forum, but it's the last. ;-) > > Anyway, thank you people, have nice holidays under the sun !!
