If you hear that kind of thing I'd suspect an erronate samplerate. In
which case you should be able to reproduce the problem with a very
simple setup: liquidsoap 'out(single("thefile.mp3"))'.

Alsa and various other things can slow down liquidsoap, so it ends up
not sending data fast enough. This creates deconnections via icecast,
drops and small cuts through alsa, but not a slow-down effect. When
liquidsoap is slow, it still produces the same stream (at least,
that's the theory, otherwise it's a bug).

This should help to narrow down the bug,
