*Hi again,
Thanks for the fast and helpful response.*
/It seems that there is a problem with your installation here. This is
not so much related with Liq than with OCaml itself: my first guess
would be that /usr/lib/ocaml/pervasives.cmi is the library for a
version of OCaml different from the compiler used.
What distribution are you using? Are all the packages related
to ocaml up-to-date? Did you try to install OCaml by hand at some point?
Can you provide us with the config.log in the liquidsoap directory?/
*I am on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick. I followed some instructions I found on
the net to install and
compile **liquidsoap-full-0.9.3-1.tar.gz and
**liquidsoap-full-1.0.0-beta1.tar.bz2. I can say I am
totally noob about linux and liquidsoap. Just have little knowledge
about UNIX from around
the early 90's.
But then how did I manage to run the radio? and why not the tv now :)
Anyway, I realized it wasn't a liq problem but OCaml but thought that
pervesives.cmi should be
compiled seperately? Because the error was saying exactly
/usr/lib/ocaml/pervasives.cmi is not a compiled interface.
I mostly used to get the tools that were missing through "aptitude
install" and on most part it
really helped until the make process. I would appreciate if you could
help me how to check the
version of OCaml, (shamefully I couldn't even exit from OCaml btw.)
And no, I don't think I installed OCaml manually.*
/
// Actually promoting your radios is encouraged :) I have added
your radio to the list of Liquidsoap users./
*Glad for adding the radio, I really like liquidsoap and we (my team)
even think to build an
interface for the parts we mostly use for now and share it with you (if
we ever manage to get
our heads from work).*
/Yes, you should be able to. Video streams work exactly in the same way
as audio streams (excepting that you see video). Notice that video
hasn't been tested in depth, mainly because of the lack of
regular users, so we would be very interested to see if it feets your
needs and also to fix bugs that you might encounter on your way.
/*That's what I understood and why I wanted to give it a try. **Because
rationally thinking it must be the same. But I couldn't find any
information of what streaming protocols I can use with it and which
encoders could be used? I am asking that because I had for long time
trouble streaming OGG through a flash application (the flash player for
streaming the radio, as you know OGG is not natively supported by Adobe
Flash). I used a Java player (jorbis) for streaming ogg for some time
until ffmp3 player came up (http://ffmp3.sourceforge.net) which saved
the day (don't mind the name it allows ogg streams and is the only one
around). Same can happen for video, so I want to know what I am dealing
with right after I manage to configure the stream on liquidsoap
(especially by sending the stream to a flash player on a webpage).
It would be extremely appreciated if its possible to get a compiled
ready version of the beta, I can assure you that I would try liquid1
beta or 0.9.3. But honestly would prefer the beta. /
/*
/If you don't manage to compile liquidsoap, we might be able to provide
you with compiled versions of the current beta but it depends on your
Linux distribution (actually these are already ready if you use
Debian or Ubuntu).
/*(I couldn't find any ready installs for Debian or Ubuntu of liquid
1beta, might be my fault.)*
*
Thank you very much again for the kind response and help Sam.

I would like to know how to compile liq 1 beta in the right way. I
think I managed to compile
it as far as I can with my little knowledge, but stuck on the
"make" part which gives me a
/usr/lib/ocaml/pervasives.cmi is not a compiled interface
error.

I already run a radio stream since about a year through
liq/icecast at http://www.eastanbul.com
without any problem till now (hope a little promoting won't hurt
anyone here, besides if needed
this might be put in liquidsoap's showcase).
Actually promoting your radios is encouraged :) I have added your
radio to the list of Liquidsoap users.
Maybe first of all I had to ask if did understood right or wrong
that I can stream video files the
exact same way my radio is streaming mp3's through a daily/weekly
scheduled playlist?

If right, how can I fix the problem I am stuck with? or would the
compiled version of liq1 beta
be released soon?
