Hello
We're dealing with user generated content so quality control is tough.
Liquidsoap's encoders tend to crash and not recover when they encounter a
file they don't agree with or a live stream that's misbehaving. Often the
file in question appears to be valid, it plays in multiple media players,
you can pull meta data out of it, and so on. In the case of a live
broadcast, sometimes when someone live encoder is re-connecting you might
see a buffer overrun log entry in liquidsoap, followed by it's encoders
crash.
When the LS encoders crash there is no information in the log. The LS
process remains intact, but the radio station has effectively stopped any
kind of activity.
This has been a problem in all versions of LS I've tried. We've been testing
one of the more recent 1+ beta releases and it still happens. It would be
really helpful if LS could recover from this and if we had a way to log the
crashes and we had a way to know which media it crashed on.
