External encoders should be used only as last case. It is highly
recommended to go with internal encoders, which are now all available
using recent Debian packages.

That said, Liquidsoap should not have issues with files that are
otherwise correctly decoded. We recently fixed in particular a case
where mp3 files with big tags (e.g. album artwork) were not correctly
decoded. This should be in 1.0.0 beta 3 and for sure in 1.0.0

That said, if you can provide us with some minimal script and log, we
could try to see if we can reproduce and fix your issues..
